Quick Wins Implementation Plan - RuntimePluggableClassFactory

Overview

This document outlines the Quick Wins to be implemented for the RuntimePluggableClassFactory repository. These are high-impact, low-effort improvements that can be implemented immediately.

Quick Wins List

1. Remove/Address TODO Comments ✅

Priority: High
Effort: Low
Impact: Code clarity, reduced technical debt

Files with TODOs:

• RuntimePluggableClassFactory/PluginClassFactory.cs (lines 9-10)
• RuntimePluggableClassFactory/FilePlugin/FilePluginLoader.cs
• RuntimePluggableClassFactory/PluginExecutionContext.cs
• RuntimePluggableClassFactory.Test/RuntimeTests.cs

Action:

• Remove implemented TODOs
• Convert remaining TODOs to GitHub issues
• Document decisions in ADRs

2. Enhance Nullability Annotations ✅

Priority: High
Effort: Low
Impact: Type safety, better compiler warnings

Scope:

• Review all public APIs for nullability
• Add ? where appropriate
• Add [DisallowNull], [MaybeNull] where needed
• Ensure consistent null handling

Files to update:

• All interface files
• All public class files
• Test files

3. Update Dependencies ✅

Priority: Medium
Effort: Low
Impact: Security, compatibility

Current dependencies:

• System.Runtime.Loader v4.3.0
• Microsoft.SourceLink.GitHub v8.0.0

Action:

• Check for newer versions
• Update if compatible
• Test thoroughly

4. Add Health Checks ✅

Priority: Medium
Effort: Low
Impact: Observability, production readiness

Action:

• Add Microsoft.Extensions.Diagnostics.HealthChecks package
• Implement health check for plugin loading
• Add readiness/liveness probes

• Documentation updated if needed

Dependencies Update

• All dependencies checked for updates
• Compatible versions identified
• All tests pass with new versions
• No breaking changes introduced

Health Checks

• Health check package added
• Plugin loading health check implemented
• Integration tests added
• Documentation updated

Testing Strategy

1. Unit Tests: All existing tests must pass
2. Build: Clean build with no warnings
3. Integration: Test with sample plugins
4. Performance: No regression in performance benchmarks

Rollback Plan

All changes are additive or non-breaking. If issues arise:

1. Revert specific commit
2. Create hotfix branch
